Tell us a little about you — what lights you up in life right now?

I am in a mum of 2 amazing young men, and have been married to my best friend and cheer leader for 27 years. My family brings me so much joy, my boys are kind and thoughtful and I enjoy watching them live their best lives. As I think about retirement which is around the corner, I look forward to cherishing another 30 years with my husband and building new memories. 

I would describe myself as career driven and have a huge passion for property which my husband calls a very expensive hobby :-)  I purchased my first investment property at 21 and later became a small scale property developer in my “spare time”, juggling kids and a career.  I really enjoy the creativity from designing and building homes and love walking through a construction site.

I have also had an incredible diverse career from navigating warships, leading departments, multi-country projects and implementing regulation. Each role has been different but share common themes of solving complex problems and growing people to drive change.  During phases of your life the titles initially matter but as you grow and learn, you come to realise its the people you meet along the way, the friends you make and the joy of working with amazing people that really matters. People forget what you achieved but remember how you make them feel.  


What’s one experience or lesson that’s shaped who you are today?

I am a strong believer in strength based leadership, when you focus on another strengths, instead of weaknesses, your connections grow exponentially. This translates to my family and friends. No-one is perfect, everyone has bad days, where they are not the best version of themselves. I aim to avoid judgement, be kind and forgive generously. 

How do you define radiance — and when do you feel most radiant?

Radiance comes from within and being comfortable in your own skin. It shines the most, when I surround myself with the people I care about, when building new experiences, and in quiet moments by myself.  Music also has a special place and I am not afraid to dance to a fav song in the Coles isle or turn up the volume to Titanium in the car :-)

What does self-love look like in your life — even on the messy days?

I am fascinated by neuroscience, understanding the rhythm of our body and the importance of looking after yourself. I have been practicing three key things which make be a better mum, wife, daughter, sister, friend and leader. They are: 

1. Sleep - getting 8 hours of good sleep and starting with a nightly ritual (FRIISKIN)
2. Exercise - calendarising time to exercise at least 3 times a week 
3. Nutrition - aim to fuel my body with good food

When these 3 things are in balance, I am the best version of me. 

What’s a small ritual or habit that makes a big difference in your wellbeing?

Right now I am actively working towards reducing the time I spend on my phone. Putting it away earlier in the evenings, avoiding first thing in the morning, popping it in a draw on the weekend…..its a work in progress :-) 

How do you stay grounded or inspired when life gets overwhelming?

I am already an incredibly resilient person, familiar with stressful environments and known for being calm under pressure. I try not to be overwhelmed by focusing on the what’s in my sphere of influence, practice gratefulness and optimism, and have a fundamental belief there is always a solution… I just haven’t thought of it yet :-)

Who in your life inspires you — and why?

I am inspired by the many women who have paved the way for other women, to enable career choices the previous generation did not have, and access to education which opens up opportunities.  I continue to be inspired by women ally-ship, who see other women and lift them up.

I am also often surprised and inspired by our young generation, who see the world with a different lens and are teaching us that life is to be lived.


Which Friiskin product do you reach for the most, and how does it make you feel?

Be kind and take care of yourself..... there is only one of you!
